Project Goal
Produce an online video course for newbie home staging entrepreneurs, with step-by-step instructions walking students through starting a home staging business, in Q1.
Project Scope
Transform an existing two-month free webinar series into a mini online course. The course will be about how to launch a home staging business, including selecting a business name, registering a business in the United States, creating branding and marketing materials, setting up a website and social media, getting a business bank account and insurance, and determining pricing. The course will not include any information on how to stage homes.
Project Deliverables
Stakeholders
The primary stakeholders for this project are Staging Studio students, who are well-educated on interior design and home staging, but lack the confidence and detailed knowledge to set up a successful business.
Other stakeholders include the instructors who filmed the source materials, and the customer service and marketing teams that will be responsible for the launch and maintenance of the course.
Resources
As the education reporter for Community Impact Newspaper Cedar Park-Leander, I owned all coverage of the Leander Independent School District from 2017-2019.
This ranged from researching and reporting on the school board, curriculum changes, safety protocols, parental involvement, budgets and funding, bond elections, and much more.
During the paper’s “Education Focus” edition in 2018, I managed 12 pages of content, including numerous infographics, maps of school boundaries, and original reporting. I oversaw the production of all graphics created by our team’s designer, working with her to ensure that the end product was both engaging and accessible to our 66,000+ readers.

The goal of this project was to create and implement a map-based directory for Staging Studio-certified home stagers. 6 months after implementation, this directory hosts nearly 200 profiles.
The Problem
Staging Studio trains hundreds of home stagers across the globe, providing them with a Real Estate Staging Association-accredited certification. As a result, many real estate agents reach out to Staging Studio asking for recommendations for home stagers to hire. Without a directory, the Staging Studio team spent valuable time searching an internal student database for relevant stagers.
The Solution
This directory and map makes it easy for potential customers to find a certified home stager or designer near them. It provides significant value to Staging Studio’s students, who can connect with paying customers through the directory.
My Role
As the product manager of this tool, I owned all stages of development and implementation. This project required internal change management, as we implemented new processes for our customer service team to collect and upload student data to the map.
Additionally, I managed the marketing and outreach to our students to educate them about the new directory. The above video was just one way in which we communicated the new feature to our students. Other communication included targeted email campaigns, social media marketing, and updates to our existing courses to encourage students to upload their information to the directory.
